Storytelling can help.

We've been telling stories our entire lives.

Before there was written word this is how we passed on everything we knew. Who we were, what we believed, what we'd learned -- everything. We evolved to share all of this through storytelling. And we evolved to take it all in the same way, through storytelling.

Below is short list of stories, images, and anecdotes Elsa has worked with in the past. Keep in mind this is an abbreviated list (and her repertoire is constantly growing).

  • Beauty & the BellPepper (personal story) -- It's obvious when you've outgrown a pair of shoes you wear every day - when you try them on one morning, they won't fit. But how can you tell if you've outgrown a belief or preference, especially if it's one you haven't tried on in a while?

  • Five Hugs a Day (personal story) -- Touch seems to be very important to the health of newborns and Elsa is confident this extends to the rest of the human population. Transplanted from a culture well versed in touch to one where folks don't even talk to each other while waiting in line, she had to adapt-- and quick!

  • The Lion's Whisker (an Ethiopian tale) -- Love, trust, and respect. Certain things can't be forced.

  • The QuiltMaker's Gift (by Jeff Brumbeau) -- One of Elsa's favorite children's books (she'll light up if you ask her about it), about generosity and mentoring. More than that, it's about living your life in a way that is congruous with your values - even when it's not easy to do so.

  • Spirit Guides and Stuffed Puppies (personal story) -- Leaving a little room for wonder...

  • The Piano Story (personal story) -- A simple practical joke, laughter, and reflection... listen to a snippet... (563KB recording-- Aug 20, 2002 at Brother Blue's (first telling))*

  • Syd (personal fairy tale) -- "...sometimes we're not born the shape we were meant to be..." This is a story about stretching your horizons, wanting to find your place in the world, carrying all that you love within you & sharing it.
